Forging The Perfect Guardian - Destiny 2 Builds

Destiny 2 is a game that has a deep narrative, stunning visuals, great gear, unique and memorable characters and more. Bungie has created Destiny to be the type of “looter, shooter” that caters to each person’s playstyle. This is done by the customizations that are allowed for each person’s “guardian” to fit any situation they are in. These builds can focus on the subclass (damage element) that’s chosen, the weapon (damage element, weapon type, legendary or exotic), what class you are using (Hunter, Titan or Warlock) and of course the armor (legendary or exotic, mods used). These builds will make or break you during Nightfall, Gambit, Trials and during story/seasonal content.

Each person has their preferred playstyle. Some guardians like having instant supers, others want to be able to tank damage, others like to be stealthy or be the support member of the fireteam. There is an infinite number of builds one can make. There are more than enough mods, weapons, and armor to create your perfect guardian 10 times over. This is one of Destiny 2’s appeals, being able to have control over how you play that fits who you are as a person.

To further push the customization of your guardian, Bungie revealed during their Witch Queen showcase live stream that they are revamping the light-based subclasses to be more customizable to be on par with the current Darkness subclass, Stasis. This new rework will start with the Void subclasses and has been dubbed “Void 3.0” by Bungie. This is the start of new builds and creating new ways to play with each class. Players are already creating new builds and testing them out with the current subclasses in preparation for the new re-works coming in year 5 and beyond.

“Coming up with and using new builds each season based on mods is something I find fun and use to show up my clanmates, ha-ha!” – Luis Vergary

There are YouTube channels, Reddit threads, Discord servers and etc. dedicated to creating builds, modifying current loadouts, sharing information on what works in synergy and what doesn’t everywhere. These are not only fun to play around with but also helps to build community morale as this has shown to bring players closer together to simply test out new builds with each other. This is what Bungie has stated they wanted all along. Not to only tell a large immersive story with great gameplay and amazing loot to chase but for players to build friendships and have those friendships evolve past the tv screen.
