30 Years of Awesome - Bungie’s 30th Anniversary Event
December in Destiny has always been associated with the holiday event, The Dawning. This December is going to be slightly different. Not only will The Dawning still take place, but Bungie will also be celebrating its 30th Anniversary. It has been 30 years and to bring this momentous milestone, Bungie revealed there will be a “30th Anniversary” pack that players can experience starting December 7th. This pack will include the return of Gjallarhorn (coupled with an ornament and catalyst), Thorn-themed armor, a new Dungeon that will take place in the “Loot Cave” on the Cosmodrome, a new Claymore Sword based on Bungie’s first-ever game, Myth and more.
Not only are fans excited for this new content as the current season has been extended to 6 months from the normal 3 due to the delay for The Witch Queen but are getting excited for the new changes coming to the game along with the new content. During the weekly TWAB, Bungle has revealed that there will be exotic tuning for weapons and armor, Super cooldowns will be adjusted based on regeneration tiers based on which super is being used, ability cooldowns will be reworked such as the Stasis ability Shatterdive is being nerfed and how abilities will now have different cooldown times. This is something players will welcome as abilities are running rampant in PVP.
This patch will go live alongside the 30th Anniversary. These changes rolling out alongside the new content players will get is major as this is further set up for more changes and adjustments that will go live in year 5 with The Witch Queen. Going back to the anniversary event, the return of the infamous exotic launcher Gjallarhorn and the Loot Cave being used as a treasure-themed dungeon is major! Gjallarhorn has been the end all be all weapon to have back in Destiny 1 and was the most powerful weapon anyone can get. The return of it has players excited and creating new character builds to support it.
The new dungeon that will take place in the Loot Cave is moving into new territory as this is making use to the dev team using all the creativity they can muster and makes use of player exploitation from Destiny 1 in such a way that it is now part of the story and not only a reference/easter egg like it currently is in the game. This also has ties to the mysterious “The Nine” as Xur is featured in this dungeon. “I’m excited for the return of the great gun, Gally (Gjallarhorn)! that thing is going to melt bosses!” Says Edd (Developer), a dedicated Destiny 2 player.
If you are just as excited to get your guardian’s hands on the new content as Edd is, the return of Gjallarhorn and to clear the new dungeon and earn all the new loot possible, stay tuned for more information as it is revealed closer to Dec. 7th.
